Part 4: Scene Practice and Live Workshop

This part is completely practical where you see the behind the scenes look at how Mira works with her actors in the real time – along with this, she also walks you through her complete process from reading the script, rehearsing it and doing the final take.

Moreover, she also shared the tips and some hacks on how you can communicate with actors, adjust the details and bring the sense to life step by step – what stood for me seeing the complete process from the scratch.

Part 5: Visual Storytelling with Monsoon Wedding 

This is so far one of the favourite lesson from this master class, where Mira teaches you about visual storytelling, using one of his own movie name monsoon wedding, She explains about how she used the colour lighting and the camera angles to sow emotion and the family connection.

Additionally, she also teaches you how every small choices from costumes to background detail can make your story even more compelling for your audience Along with this, you will also understand how working closely with your cinematographer can bring your vision to life.

Overall the section will help you to understand how to create a film that not only tells a story, but also make people feel real and connected. And you will understand this concept clearly with the example covered in this section.

Part 7: Editing, Sound, and Music

This is a final section of this master class, where you will understand how simple editing can save your story and take it to the next level Furthermore, you will also understand how to use sound music and rhythm to add emotion and energy to your film.

What I liked most about this particular part is that Mira Nair has also shared her personal thoughts of how editing is like rewriting the film and how the right sound choices can bring everything together and make it a great movie And relatable to the audience.

How has Mira Nair Masterclass helped me ?.

Overall, my experience with the Mira Nair MasterClass is really good. I have learned a lot of things around filmmaking. It helped me to find my own unique style by showing me how I can use my personal experiences and background in my story to make it more relatable for the audience.

Beyond this, I especially liked her tips on how you can guide both trained and untrained actors in a natural way so that they can give their best performance for the film. 

What also impressed me were her tips for making a low-budget film, like using natural light or properly allocating resources to get the maximum output. These steps are super helpful for a beginner like me.

Furthermore, the three-scenes workshop is my favorite part—watching Mira guide a scene from start to finish helped me to understand difficult ideas very easily. Her 66-page workbook has also helped me to implement whatever I have learned from this MasterClass.

However, I felt the scriptwriting part was too short and not detailed enough. I wish there could be more information added to this section to make it even more helpful for the audience.
